Day 124: a parade of peacocks

Day 124 Jan 02 2016 Old Bar 4:30pmP1060682doc

The Cottonwood tree in our backyard is always a source of inspiration for collaboration.

It is possibly what some would call an untidy tree with its branches drooping to the ground and the infestation of woolly aphids that smother its tips just before flowering.

But it has heart shaped leaves and profuse hibiscus like flowers that bloom bright yellow with a deep burgundy centre, and after a day the whole bloom turns red.

The underside of these flowers are equally as beautiful as the top and I couldn’t help but play with the fallen blooms………dissecting and rearranging……..they reminded me of peacocks parading.
